Kevin Boji serves as the Parks and Recreation Director and is appointed by and reports directly to the Raytown Park Board and is responsible for a $1.2M budget and 8 employees. Raytown has 6 parks totaling 110 acres, 2 special use areas and a historic property listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Kevin also provides professional support to a 9 member Park Board responsible for guiding the direction, operations and growth of the Department. The Park Board acts in an advisory capacity to departmental staff and the Raytown Board of Alderman and members are appointed by the Mayor with the approval of the Board of Alderman on the first day of June each year to serve three-year staggered terms.
The Parks and Recreation Director is responsible to oversee five divisions-Parks, Aquatics, Programs, Administration and BMX. Under direction from the Raytown Park Board, the Parks and Recreation Director is primarily responsible to plan, direct, manage, and oversee the activities and operations of the Parks and Recreation Department including city park development, planning and facility maintenance, fiscal management, recreation programs, special events; to develop key partnerships and cooperative projects with community organizations; to administer and implement the Park Master Plan, plan park capital improvement projects; and to provide highly responsible administrative support to the Park Board.
