The Raytown Park Board is the governing body tasked with operating and managing the City Parks and Recreation system. The Board consists of nine (9) members appointed by the Mayor, with the approval of the Board of Alderman to three (3) year staggered terms without compensation. The Director of Parks and Recreation reports to the Park Board. The Parks and Recreation website is www.raytownparks.com. The role of the Park Board is to:
- Plan, provide and maintain a diverse and accessible system of parks, services, and public facilities that will improve the quality of life for Raytown residents.
- To operate the park and recreation system in the best interest of the citizens of Raytown.
- To represent and foster pride in our community.
- Preserve open space and protect our outdoor environment
- Improve local property values while providing a safe, diversified, equitable and enjoyable recreation experience for residents.

A commitment to impartiality, the community, and the ability to serve to the public and improve recreational opportunities for residents.
Time Commitment:
The Board meets monthly on the third Monday of each month at 7:00 PM at the Park Office, 5912 Lane, which typically lasts from approximately one hour to two and a half hours. In addition, prior to each meeting, a packet of information on the upcoming meeting is mailed/delivered to each Park Board member. The time to review this information requires approximately one-half to one-hour of review time prior to each meeting.
