Laws of the City
Raytown is a 4th class City under the statutes of the State of Missouri.
Our laws are called Ordinances. All Ordinances of the City of Raytown can be found in our Municipal Code Book.
Ordinances are typically written by City Staff and brought to the Board of Aldermen for approval.
Each Ordinance requires two readings before a vote is taken.
The Mayor has 10 days to determine if he would like to veto the ordinance.
If he does not veto, the ordinance goes into effect.
If he decides to veto, the Board of Aldermen can overturn that veto with 2/3 of the Board.
