Residential Rental and Non-Owner-Occupied Permit Program

 

  • What is the Residential Rental Dwelling Maintenance Program?
    • The Residential Rental Dwelling Maintenance Program is an ordinance that requires landlords to obtain a permit for residential rental units in the City of Raytown. Rental unit(s) must pass a basic health and safety inspection every two (2) years.
  • Who should submit a Residential Rental and Non-Owner-Occupied Permit?
    • Any residential property owner who does not occupy their residential property in Raytown
  • What is required to be submitted as part of the permit application?
    1. Name of Property Owner
    2. Name of Property Management Company (if applicable)
    3. Local Contact - Person located in the Kansas City MSA and authorized by the owner to make binding decisions. This is REQUIRED of all Non-Local Property Owners
    4. Jackson County Property Tax ID#
    5. Rental Permit and Inspection Fees (see application for fee schedule)

  • How can I register my rental property?
    • You can begin registration by completing a Rental and Non-Owner-Occupied Permit Application online, or emailing a paper application to aprilm@raytown.mo.us (a link to the pdf form is below). Please click HERE to create an online account and submit a rental permit application online (a pdf with instructions is below). If you are renewing, please log into your online account and complete a rental application. Your fees will be invoiced and available to pay in the portal once your application has been approved.

Rental Inspection "General" items punchlist.pdf This is a list of general items that are required per city rental code. Please keep in mind there may be other items not on this list that require attention. All failed items will be in the inspectors report, which is emailed once the inspection is complete.
