The Code Enforcement division is responsible for administering and enforcing property maintenance regulations and general nuisance codes within the City of Raytown.

Most Common Violations
- Weeds, grass, and other vegetation must be maintained at a height of 8 inches or less on all properties.
- Household items intended for indoor use may not be stored outside.
- Unlicensed or inoperable vehicles must be stored inside an enclosed structure.
- Vehicles must be parked on approved, paved surfaces and may not be parked on grass or other non-paved areas.
- Trash containers may be placed at the curb no more than 12 hours before and must be removed within 12 hours after scheduled collection.
- All exterior building surfaces and fences must be properly maintained and kept in good repair.
- Yard waste must not be left outside for extended periods and must be promptly removed and disposed of in an appropriate manner.
Violation Process
When a violation of City ordinances is identified, a written notice will be issued to the property owner and/or tenant. The notice will describe the violation and specify a timeframe for compliance.
A Code Enforcement Officer will conduct a follow-up inspection after the allotted time has expired. If the violation has been corrected, the case will be closed and no further action will be necessary.
If the violation remains unresolved, additional enforcement actions may be taken, which may include issuance of a work order, citation, fine, or referral to municipal court.

Home Weatherization Assistance is Available
Residents of Jackson, Clay, and Platte Counties may be eligible to apply for services administered by the City of Kansas City, including:
- Furnace and water heater repair or replacement
- Ductwork repair
- Window and door repair
- Installation of caulking, weather stripping, and insulation for sidewalls and attics
The Home Weatherization Program assists eligible homeowners by providing energy conservation services tailored to their specific needs. As part of the program, qualified applicants receive a two- to four-hour energy audit conducted by City of Kansas City staff to identify areas of energy loss and determine the most cost-effective improvements to improve energy efficiency.

The Missouri Department of Natural Resources established and monitors the program criteria. The Missouri Department of Natural Resources, Kansas City Power & Light, Missouri Gas Energy, Aquila, Ameren UE, Independence Power and Light and Empire Electric provide funding for this program.
